Feeling the Love- GIVE AWAY!

I am feelin the Looove!
First I have to thank my sister- once again- for nominating me to Family Fun Magazine.

You might not have heard... but I am "Mother of the Month" February!
(My sister said she would mail me a sash to wear next month that says.. Mrs February. Just in case some people weren't at the penny carnival during my photo shoot- and they missed the memo I sent out, or the banner I have across my door, or they missed all the cardboard signs I've posted in our small community that say, "MOther of the MOnth lives this way"... )

I know some of you didn't know- cuz I've kept it real quiet and haven't bragged or blogged about it much... you know me.. I don't like to draw attention to myself and I never blow things out of proportion...

But so many people have been emailing and blogging and facebook commenting that I want to share the love..... with a blog give-away!

I will feel guilty trying to win when I'm already blessed with that awesome shirt - I just have to say though that is a VERY cool shirt!!!

(although - I certainly wouldn't say no to a cool book... should I happen to get really lucky...)

Don't feel guilty! I ordered the shirt...so it should be on it's way!

Congrats on being Mom of the Month. You are clearly an incredible mom, and your boys are lucky to have you.

Do your Chinese daughters know that for one week they have the Mom of the Month? Maybe that would make you the Mom of the Week for them?

oooh, they get to brag about playing Rock Band with a celebrity :)

verifier: makerr... is that "make her"? (not that I know what I'm being forced into) or Make Err... which I do all the time anyway... ?

Just thought I would say hi.. I read your article in Family Fun yesterday and ran across a comment you posted on LeeLou blogs today.. STRANGE!! What an awesome thing you have done with starting a book club 4 boys, I am super impressed. I was also thrilled to see you are a card maker and splitcoast addict as well. I am a Stampin' UP! demonstrator and love all the free ideas I can get from Splitcoast. Anywho, congrats again on being featured, that is awesome!

Oh shoot...what? what?!! You have a major major thing coming up in your life and I was not aware of this?!! And I am supposed to be your bestest friends?!! I'm crushed....ahahaha, I kid I kid.
I am soooooooooo proud of you for your accomplishment.
I would totally love to blog about your give-away but most of my readers are non-bloggers. And then of course I already have both of your buttons on my sidebar, been there awhile...does that qualify me for anything? I do love the shirt..eheheh.
Ok ok ok, I need to stop hogging you. I can just come and snap up any shirt anytime so I'll be generous and spread the love eh.
I just drop by to tell you I posted the cards I've been working on all day yesterday, you can go check it out. I had for our group swap, one for kicks, another for the seminary swap and then one for Ter's card challenge. It was totally fun just playing with simply scrapping kit and punches.
Aight, take it easy and I'll see ya later. Maybe Katie and I can stop by tomorrow?? Yeah?

Crap, I meant seminar..as in the SU Regional Seminar next month.

I read the article about you in Family Fun magazine today and just checked out your Bookclub4boys site. What a wonderful idea. I have a first grader who started out the school year way behind in reading, but after five months in the school's awesome "Reading Recovery" program, he's reading at, and even beginnning to surpass, grade level.

Lately he's becoming so excited about books, so finding your site was wonderful. It's already given me some great book suggestions for him. Maybe we'll even start a book club of our own.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful talents and ideas!

Congratulations on being Mother of the Month!!! that is awesome!!! I love your idea of a giveaway. Maybe one of these days I'll get some extra time and finish something in my quilting box and do a quilt giveaway. People like quilts right? I need to be more savy though in links and things. You've done a great job setting yours up.

Sorry everyone, but I am pretty sure I am going to be the lucky one!....just kidding...or am I? I mean, what are the chances that the day after I have a nervous breakdown about my 9 year old sons refusal to read that I would stumble across a Mom in my Family Fun magazine who not only loves SCS and SU!, but has boys who reluctant readers too :) Heck, if you can get four boys to enjoy books, I should be able to get just one to, right?? Plus, it's never too early to start with my four other kids either! Thanks for the inspiration : )

I just finished reading your article in Family Fun! I am the mom of 3 boys ages 16, 7 and 5! The older boys are avid readers and I thought your idea of a "Boys Book Club" sounded cool (so did my 7 year old!). We'll be looking around the site to see what you have and how can implement it! Do you have anything for new readers (as in our 5 yr old who reads only very basic words). Thanks so much!

I have spent so much time the last few years finding fun things to do with the kids and get them moving. Now, I find myself banging my head against the wall because they don't want to read or do anything stationary. These ideas are great! I can't wait to get my Cub Scout Den in a book club and come up with more fun ways for the boys to take adventures with books. Thanks for the fun ideas!

SWIRL said...

I am so glad you posted! I am a den mother myself- and currently am working on list of books that compliment activities you do with cub scouts!

I should have a list put together by next month! HOpe you come back!

Okay...you've got me seriously motivated to start up a book club 4 boys for Son #2......we're trying to avoid the "middle child syndrome" (IS it avoidable?), so a book club should be a fun way to do something just for him (and his buddies). Thanks for the great ideas!

Colorado Mom said...

THANK YOU! Book Club 4 Boys is such a great help for me. My 1st grade son struggles with reading and his teacher and I were just talking about the need for a boys book club. I'm starting one right away! Thanks so much and congrats on being mom of the month!

SWIRL said...

Colorado Mom- I am so excited for you! Your son is gonna love it- even if at first he hates the idea.
My oldest insisted that book clubs were just stuff a "MOM" would like.

Weird School Series by Dan Gutman is where I would start. Seriously packed with silly boy humor and great characters that just keep you laughing... (plus they learn a little on the sly.)

Hi! I am a stay at home crafty mom to two great kids who luckily love books!
I will admit my son, 10, reads too much, but he is not much for discussing it or book reports. I think I need to get a book club started :)
I highly recommend The Dragon Boy by Donald Samson.
